Is it my imagination or are peeps on this site exceedingly gun happy?

Now bear in mind that I know little to nothing of what goes on in North America (eg: I don't even know who my Prime Minister is). But since posting a few questions since I discovered this site a week ago I get a LOT of pro-handgun responses. Ask a martial arts question and peeps will prattle on about the makes and models of their guns. Ask about non-lethal techniques and peeps be chiming in to go buy myself a gun. Has got that bad on the mainland that u peeps r shooting each other on a regular basis? Just as an experiment why don't u tell me how many years u have owned ur gun and in that time how many people u have shot.
