Im looking for a fun pet?

Im 16 years old and Im looking for a good pet to keep. I dont have any clue what to get. I cant get a dog, cat, or an iguana. I dont really care much for turtles either, but I want an interesting one that i can handle and might be safe around a 7/8 year old. Got an ideas for me?
