Is there a certain type of brush I should be looking for to groom my poodle mix?

If the dog is mixed, it's hard to guess what the coat is like. I'll tell you that for my Poodle, I start with a mat-breaker (GENTLY!) to look for mats and break them up, and follow with a slicker brush. After the slicker goes through her fur, I finish with a comb with rotating bristles to be sure I got everything smoothed out. Does your dog have curly fur like a Poodle? If so, what color is the coat? Do you know what breed(s) your dog is mixed with?
