Do you think excessive political correctness in the both the media and politics has helped or hurt Obama?

I think excessive PCness hurts public discourse...it keeps ALL of us from speaking frankly and honestly (not rancorously) about the relationships between us and our feelings about them. With that I think it hinders the country's progress generally. It's not about Obama. His candidacy has simply brought the conversation (and many others) to the fore.
