Urgent HELP! He's on NOW...What should I say?

Ok my crush's dad ped away, and i emailed him about how if he ever wanted to tak i would be there, and how he's strong, and i admire him...etc. Well right now he's on msn, I said hi to him before, but he didnt answer, a few minutes later he went off! Now he's on again...should I try and start a convo...with the traditional hi....or should I just leave him alone? Please NO rude comments!
