Why did you choose Jesus over Zeus?

Not to be perverse, but to me polytheism makes more sense than Xian monotheism, though both are really compensations for the harsh conditions of existence. With polytheism, one doesn't have to reconcile the suffering and pain--the bombing, the cancer, the injustice, the cruelty, the mental and physical torture of tyrants--of the world with a just and merciful god ready to send his son down to "redeem" us (how? from what?). The war god won. The sickness god won. Etc.
